Every new year I like to invest in a good planner, it’s always been focused on practicality rather than ‘self care’. This year I wanted to switch it up a little, I was sick of writing the same things Day in day out; my working schedule, how I have to remember to go food shopping, such a bore and at the end of the day it didn’t make me feel happier or that I had accomplished anything!
I went on the search for planners that can help you feel happier (I know it was a long shot!) but I found one! ‘The happiness planner’. It was STUNNING, it was love at first sight. I read a little bit about them, had a look at all the GORGEOUS pictures and took the plunge and ordered one. It was like waiting for a sunny day in England, time just slowed down, I couldn’t wait for it to arrive. One day I was feeling really low, self doubting myself and my life, I was having a ‘bad blog day’ and really needed a pick me up. That’s when IT ARRIVED! I had the little rush of excitement when the delivery man knocks on your door and passes you your forever waited for parcel. My mood lifted so suddenly I couldn’t remember why I was feeling so bad about myself. I sat down, ripped open the box like a crazy kid at Christmas and instantly life was just better.
In the words of the happiness planner company: ‘the happiness planner is a planner like no other. Instead of focusing on productivity, it focuses on your happiness. It is designed to help you cultivate happiness and foster personal growth by embracing the power of positive thinking, mindfulness, gratitude and self development. The focus is on making each day a positive experience, building introspection into your routine and increasing self-awareness. – (The Happiness Planner)
You can purchase your happiness planner at www.thehappinessplanner.co.uk this is where I bought mine from as I like to have a browse of a products main website. I was instantly surprised with the colour and material choices, and thought to myself how the hell am I going to choose a colour when their all so bleedin gorgeous!
I decided to go for the Jan-Dec 2018 issue in black and gold luxe. A lot of their colours were sold out but after browsing on their Instagram account I was really drawn to the sophisticated look of the black and gold luxe. I wasn’t let down! When it arrived it was ssoooooooo pretty! And felt really strong and well designed. It came in a little black and gold box which held the planner and other little surprises inside.
The planner itself is very thick but I really enjoy this with planners, makes me feel like I’ve got a lot to enjoy throughout the year. It felt strong and sturdy with the ever so pretty gold spiral binder, the edges of the planner are plated with gold corner plates to prevent damage, which I thought was a really nice bonus. The material I chose was ‘luxe’, the other option is matte, I really wanted to try luxe mostly because I wasn’t sure what luxe exactly was, but from what I read it sounded lovely. I wasn’t let down, the luxe edition feels really nice and luxurious!! Brings another sophisticated look to the overall planner.
The block colouring of the planner is also what attracted me to them, it makes them look super chic! And with the added gold foiling on the spiral binder, corner plates and brand name on the front, was just the cherry on top of a yummy bake well tart! Overall my first impressions of how the planner and packaging looked was really high, I couldn’t fault them in any way!
Currently the cost of the happiness planner Jan-Dec 2018 issue is £36. For me this seemed like a reasonable price especially with everything you get inside (which I’ll get to don’t you worry) and the overall look and feel of the planner. Basically I think your getting a bargain! I guess in the end it all depends on what your planning to use your planner for this year, if your like me and you want to focus a little more on self care rather than practically and schedules, then this is the planner for you.
Overall when I received my planner I didn’t feel let down that I paid this amount, I felt like it was deffo worth it and I’d achieve a lot from using it.
Take a peek inside the box!
The happiness planner is packaged in a lovely little keepsake box to add a little extra protection against damage. The box comes in the same colour as your main block colour on the planner, for me this was black! It was the same material as the planner (luxe) and looked and felt really chic.
When I opened the box very carefully like it was a new born baby! The planner was wrapped in bubble wrap for extra protection which was really nice of the company to do. I was overall really impressed with the packaging of the planner, and couldn’t wait to dig deeper.
One of the great things I loved instantly was that you don’t just get the planner inside your lovely little keepsake box, you get little extra treats!! My day was made!! Inside you get given your planner of choice, a lovely pen, mine was gold (I believe this depends on which colour planner you choose). The pen was super cute, thin which I enjoy writing with as I have dinky hands and has a lovely little quote engraved on it. Mine says ‘enjoy the simple things’ – brilliant!!! It also had inside some gold plated paper clips, gold plated board clips and A LOT of self care planner type sheets.
These sheets are fab! And you can also get free downloadables from the happiness planner website! So you can keep going with all your goals – what a super idea, snaps for the happiness planner! (Fans of legally blonde will get that reference) some of the sheets you get focus on topics such as; last years reflection, New Years resolutions, bucket list, vision board and much much more!! The sheets are super fun, easy to read and a really good feel, will definitely be downloading more and creating a little self care vision board.
Inside the happiness planner!
Opening my happiness planner for the first time exceeded all expectations, it was fab! I wasn’t expecting so many self care pages, it was fabulous. Before the daily diary starts you get a HUGE section on cute little rules to live by for a happier life pages, such lovely quote pages to keep in the back of your mind. It also has question and answer pages based around happiness, habits you want to improve and what your grateful for in life.
Once you finally calm down and get to the diary part of the planner, it still fills you with so much joy! At the beginning of each month you get a plan, a page on what you hope for this month. Your then faced with the main diary part of the planner, I don’t want to five too much away, but it exceeds any other daily planner! You have your little schedule and to do list and so much more!!!
Choices, choices, choices
One thing I really love about the happiness planner is the vast amount of choice you have!
They have around five types of happiness planner to choose from, and then these are some of the choices you have to make:
- start of the year or mid year start
- matte or luxe
I LOVE IT! Your designing it the way you want.
As well as planners, you can also treat yourself to GORGEOUS stationery, refills and inserts, 100 day planners and boxes of happiness which I’m really eager to get my hands on!
Literally, they have everything you need for better self care!
My overall first impressions of the happiness planner are second to none! Absolutely fabulous inside and out. I literally could not fault them in any shape or form, it’s a beautiful planner that rather than focusing on productivity, it focuses on your happiness. It’s exactly what I was looking for this year and I can’t wait to look back at it in a years time and purchase my 2019 edition!!!
How I’m finding the happiness planner so far – a couple weeks on
I’ve had my happiness planner a couple weeks now, not long I know! But so far I’m absolutely loving it! I enjoy writing in it throughout the day and finish it off just before bed.
It’s definitely become a staple in my daily routine, it’s allowing me to stop focusing all on productivity and to start looking at myself as a person. How’s my day making me happy, what have I achieved and what am I looking forward to tomorrow.
Though it has its little schedule and ‘to do’ sections, they aren’t the main focus point, I’ve really enjoyed this as I’ve really become to hate planners than just have a blank page or just these types of lists. Life isn’t all about productivity, and this planner has so far shown me that.
Overall im loving my happiness planner, it’s doing exactly what it said and more! I’ll definitely be re-purchasing these every year as my main yearly planner. And look forward to seeing how it’s helped me become ‘happier’ at the end of 2018!
I’d love to know if I’ve pursueded you to go and have a cheeky look into them, maybe even pop one in your basket? If you’ve already got one and LOVIN IT, what your first impressions where, are they similar?
